500,000 organic entries just by optimizing the breaking news pages
The company is Israel’s leading online news portal with over 1.3 million users a day. The organization produces fresh content 24/7 and invests heavily in video content on topics such as business, sports, culture, food and more.
The client’s 2 main goals were to become a leader in the news market, generating quality content to new and returning users and as a publisher providing advertisers the ability to reach relevant audiences.
What We Did
A drill down led us to focus on solving technical issues which will allow us to improve the site’s ranking on search results providing better answers for both user intent and Google’s algorithm. By improving the site’s crawl budge, mapping internal links, Implementing a content schema and adapting the content to Google’s latest new standards, we were able to control news demand relative to competitors on Google’s results page and appear in most of the rich text snippets (Rich Snippets).
After the the changes were made there was a- 51% increase in organic traffic.
The significant improvements in ranking led to a significant increase in the CTR of all targeted key words. For example, the CTR of the phrase “breaking news”, increased from 5% to 44%.
Almost every recipe page found under the company’s recipe index shows a similar increase in daily clicks on the Search Console account.
